The song Uptown Funk became an over night viral sensation after the release of it's music video. The music its self is largely influenced by Minneapolis sound, a sub genre of funk rock and electro-funk from the 1980s. Correspondingly, the music video uses a great deal of gimmicks and references from 1980s America and Britain, such as the bright suits and chains Mars and Ronson are wearing in the video.
This theme for the video was attractive to a certain demographic of people who believe they were "Born in the wrong generation", specifically the 1980s when this video is based. Along with it's viral spree, this means this video has influences both on society, and it's self influenced society.

The music video for Fake my own Death by Sum 41 is a perfect example of a music video that has been influenced by society, particularly internet culture. In this instance, the artist has utilised memes, a form of pop culture present on the internet involving publishing and sharing images for a common joke.
