The Necessity of Magazine Advertisment

Advertising via magazines is slowly becoming less and less relevant as we move through the digital era. It is not altogether true that the world going digital is killing magazines, as they can still be viewed and purchased online, as well as downloaded via PDFs, making them multi-media. From a marketing perspective, it can be quite beneficial to get their artist out there and noticed, as readers of the magazine will be more likely to buy the album advertised as it will be relevant to their interests if they are reading a music magazine for example. People who subscribe to magazines will also trust what the magazine has to say, so if an artist advert or interview is featured, they may take that as a recommendation.

However, when looking to advertise there are much better options out their that come to mind. For example, an advert on Youtube would attain considerably more traffic than any magazine. It would also share the benefit of targeting demographics that would be interested, as they can utilise data mining, except in this case it will also reach a mass amount of people who will not apply to the demographic, but still might be interested.

There is a clear connection between all pieces involved with the advertising and promotion of a product. You will usually see a common image among them, like a logo or picture. This can work in favour for making and using magazine adverts, as you can base them around existing material and use them later for something else like a poster. The standard instance of this is an album cover, as I have said in my Codes and Conventions post.
